Windows process activation service failed to start, Windows could not start the Windows Process Activation Service on Local computer.
Error: The system cannot find the file specified.
All of a sudden while working with IIS, the machine got hanged and I need to restart the machine, after the restart
I could not open localhost also IIS service was not running.
To my surprise, I could see Windows Process Activation and Word Wide Web service is also not running.
Tried to restart both the service but it throws an error as shown in Image – 1 and Image – 2

there was some dependency services need to be running before you start above these services, I tried in that way also I could not able to change the stage to running for WPA and WWW service.
Solution After some google, I could find in this location the folder (apppools) is not there, somehow got deleted.
C:\inetpub\temp\apppools folder.
So I just create apppools folder inside C;\inetpub\temp folder and then restarted the services and all seems to be working fine. Both Windows Process Activation, World Wide Web and IIS service is running and am also able to browse localhost.
